ACE SC 5 | Geochemical Applications Throughout the Lifecyle of Unconventional Reservoir Exploration, Appraisal and Development
AAPG Women’s Network
Saturday, 6 June 2020, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. | Houston, Texas
Who Should Attend
Students, Geologists, Petrophysicists, and Reservoir Engineers who work on the Unconventional Reservoirs.
Course Content
This is a one-day short course on the various applications of petroleum and inorganic geochemistry throughout the lifecycle of unconventional reservoir from exploration, appraisal, to development. This course will provide introduction of basic concepts of petroleum system of unconventional plays, source rock evaluation using traditional geochemistry tools such as pyrolysis, Rock-Eval, biomarkers, etc., as well as most recent development of using modern high-resolution/fidelity laboratory and data analytical tools to track produced fluid movement in the subsurface in order to understand drainage, recovery, resource volumes and enhanced recovery. Attendees will learn fundamentals about various fluids (oil, water and gas) involved in unconventional reservoirs, their compositions and analytical tools for their detection, as well as data processing methods in order to extract information from the laboratory measurement.
